FPGA-Accelerators with Pattern Search Technology Ideal for a Wide Range of Network Security Applications

Camarillo and San Jose, CA (February 20, 2014) – Nallatech, a leading supplier of high-performance FPGA solutions, and LeWiz Communications (tm), a pioneer of hardware-based stateful TCP/IP offload engine (TOE) technology, today announced that LeWiz Communications' pattern search security core technology is now offered on Nallatech's high-performance FPGA-accelerator platforms. Visitors to the RSA Conference, February 24-28, in San Francisco, Calif., can see a demonstration at booth #2339 showcasing pattern search at full 10GbE for packets as small as 64 bytes running on Nallatech's 385/395 accelerator card.

The integrated solution is ideal for pattern searching used in a wide range of network security applications such as deep packet inspection, filtering and intrusion detection/prevention. Searching many different patterns of binary or character strings dynamically is difficult, especially at line rates of 10Gbps or multiple 10Gbps ports. Utilizing LeWiz's technology ported to Nallatech's FPGA accelerators, 1024 patterns can be simultaneously searched over each 10GbE port. Only matched pattern results are directed to different user applications (or algorithms) for processing, which alleviates the user application from unnecessary overhead.

"We are thrilled with the results of our work with Nallatech that shows our pattern search technology running on their FPGA accelerators," said Chinh Le, CEO of LeWiz Communications. "Pattern searching with software requires a tremendous amount of computing power and still can drop packets, especially small ones. Our hardware-based technology is a game-changer, providing superior pattern searching for security applications over multiple 10 GbE ports."

"FPGAs are the ideal processors for handling the data flow processing that cyber security applications demand," said Allan Cantle, president and founder of Nallatech. "Nallatech's FPGA accelerators allow real-time processing without packet loss. Our combined solution with LeWiz's packet search technology can quickly detect and fully respond to cyber attacks more efficiently."

Nallatech's 385 and 395 FPGA accelerators allow customers to combine the OpenCL programming model with massively parallel FPGA architectures. This combination enables dramatic acceleration of compute-intensive applications while reducing power consumption and total cost of ownership. Nallatech's accelerator cards are also qualified by leading vendors' high density server and blade platforms and are ready for deployment with pre-integrated software and IP.
